The American Craftsman Bungalow Birdhouse

I found this on Thingiverse and it was designed by user Mr_MegaTronic. I printed this out of PLA (hopefully it holds up to the sun) and hand painted it. This was made as a Christmas gift to replace some ageing birdhouses for my mother but I was told it’s to nice to put outside so I guess the birds aren’t getting an upgrade anytime soon.

It’s a really such an awesome design with a lot of well thought out details.

From Thingiverse – This birdhouse features two entrances, upper ventilation through the chimney and windows as well as sloped drains in the base to allow fluid to run out. There are multiple interior platforms built in to the corners so birds can snuggle in places where wind is unable to blow across them. Along with the veranda, there are also three perches for birds to hang out on.

It finally did make it out side and as of April 2018 some new tenants just started to move in.

April 2020 – Unfortunately after sitting in the sun with no tenants for 2 years the Bungalow Birdhouse has gotten pretty run down. It never really was occupied I thought it was because it was a high traffic area but the other bird house I replaced this with was quickly occupied. While this is a beautiful bird house I think it was just a little to cramped for space.
