Hand Pump Garden Fountain
Antique Well hand Pump Garden Fountain
STL files for this project are available at Printables and can be found HERE.
This is a small Antique Well Hand Pump I designed to use as a Garden Fountain. It is powered by a small pump which is hooked to a battery/solar panel setup.
I really didn’t bother doing any finish work on this one because it was painted with with Rust-Oleum Universal Antique Pewter Hammered Enamel Spray Paint which covers up the layer lines pretty well.
Designed in Solidworks from images I found on the internet. The pump head consist of 4 parts, the Pump Body Spout, Hose Nipple, Pump Body, and the Bottom Mounting Flange. It mounts to a piece of 1″ (I.D.) piece of PVC pipe.
These are the pieces of the Pump Handel. The Handle Pieces, Pump Cap, Pump Rod, and the Water Defector. The pump hand was printed in two piece for easy of printing and then super glued together. The water defector keeps the water from shooting out of the Pump Rod hole in the Pump Cap.
The assembled Handle and Top Cap.
The assembled pump head is probably around 8″ tall and the PVC pipe was sized so I could make it as high as I need to match the pail I used.
The fountain is powered by a Yeeco DC 3.5-12V 6V 9V 12V Water Pump. (hopefully it survived the winter)
I’m using a 20 Watt 12 Volt Polycrystalline Solar Panel Module to charge the battery that runs the little pump. (I highly doubt it’s actually 20 watts.)
The panel hooks to a Sunix 10A 12V/24V Solar Charge Controller that controls the charge to the battery. (The battery is just a 12 Volt sealed variety I had laying around)
I’m pretty sure the controller has a timer built into it but I couldn’t figure it out and I think it’s meant to turn power on at night and I want to turn it on only in the day so I put together this simple transistor/relay setup.
That circuit includes a photo diode that is on the outside of the battery box so power is only applied to the pump in the daytime.
The battery/controller box is just a Plano waterproof ammo storage box.
I added some grommets for the wire exits so everything stays waterproof.

One Reply to “Hand Pump Garden Fountain”
hello
thanks a lot
I did’not realise that the filter was not for the 3D unit but for the electrical/industrial one
so I was unable to mount the pump, the filter seeming too big to fit the body !!
your documentation is clear and welcome
