Nano Mortar’s
Nano Mortar’s
These are a couple of tiny mortar type cannons I made back in 2009. They were fun little projects to make and it were pretty quick to machine up. The plans for this first mortar are not mine they originally came from TheFirearmBlog.com.
Here is my first Nano Mortar it is in all it’s glory. Everything was turned using the TLAR method (That Looks About Right) and I didn’t have the right drill sizes at the time so I just used a 3/16″ bit for the bore. It’s a bit over sized for a BB so I only get a whopping range of 6 inches with a pinch of 10 year old Pyrodex P but it is still a fun little project to build.

….and of course the “Action Shot”. (crappy screen grab from a old video.)
My second Nano Mortar is a Nerf version, it has a 3/8″ bore and shoots foam ear plugs. I designed it on the fly while turning it on the lathe so I don’t have plans for this one. The range on this one is a little longer, a little over 10 feet (still using Pyrodex) as I haven’t found a line on small quantities of real black powder yet.
The cut down foam ear plug ammo.

I’m sure I can increase the range and maybe get a little more “Bang” out of it with some real Black Powder.
