Self Resetting Mouse Trap
I have a problem of mice building nests in all of my power equipment in my sheds so I found this self resetting walk the plank type mouse trap on Thingiverse to deal with the problem once and for all.
It’s pretty easy to print and is made up of 5 printed parts and requires a few screws and a magnet to assemble.
You also use 6 pennies for counter weight to get the plank to reset.
A magnet is used to control the action of the ramp so it doesn’t tip to early.
I ferrous screw (magnetic) is used on the plank so you can adjust the gap to control the action of the release.
The trap is place on a the edge of bucket and the bucket is filled with water. (If you don’t add the water it could be used as a live trap but from what I hear it’s not a pretty sight if you leave more than one mouse in there for to long.)
The trap was designed to have a board screwed to the trap frame but I just used some cardboard for the Stairway to Heaven.
A simple piece of wire holds the cardboard to the trap frame.
Here is another one I made setup for action in one of my sheds.
Peanut butter is used for bait and smeared on the end of the plank. When the mouse goes for the bait its weight will overpower the counter weights and magnet and the little bastard will go for it’s last swim. (I used windshield washer fluid instead of water so it wouldn’t freeze and the trap will work all winter.)
The trap works great and its first victim was caught on the first night it was set. Hopefully a few of these traps should solve my problems of my equipment being ruined. Two of these traps caught over 60 mice over the last few years.
