Log Roller Mouse Trap

This is just another mouse trap I made to protect all of my power equipment in my shed. If left uncheck the mice build nests in my snowblower and other equipment.  While my other Self Setting Traps work great I just wanted to try something different.

This one is your basic rolling log with a paddle design but I will be using (mostly) 3D printed bearing in this design.

Here is a section view showing the 3d printed bearings I will be using. They will be incorporated into the rolling log mounts that attach to the bucket.

These are the printed parts of the mounts/bearings.

The Outer race of the bearing is incorporated into the mount and the inner race will attach to the Rolling Log. (PVC Pipe)

This is what the bearing raceways look like.

For the balls for the bearing I will be using 6mm Airsoft BB’s. (I have used these in other projects and they work great.)

They will be fed into the raceway through a hole in the top.

I simple plug will seal up the hole afterwards.

This plug also completes the raceway.

A lot of bearing use a cage to hold just a few balls but I just eliminate the cage and use full balls. (21 in this case.)

A thumb screw will hold the mount to the bucket.  This way there’s no need to drill holes into the bucket.

The mount is contoured to the shape of the bucket.

A quick test fit on my paint bucket.

This is the 4 way paddle that fits onto to a 10.5″ long piece of 3/4″ PVC Pipe.

A 4-40″ tap is used to tap a center hole in the pipe…

… which allows the paddle to be secured to the pipe with a single 4-40″ screw.

A ramp mount it affixed to the side of one of the bearing mounts.

For now I am just using a piece of cardboard as the ramp.

Peanut Butter is smeared onto the tips of the paddles for bait.

It’s all set up and ready to solve the problems…

To be Continued … (I’ll post some videos once we get some action.)
