5″ Stick Worm
These are just some basic stick worms I was playing around with making. I actually designed the first mold back in June to test out some blending blocks that I was tying to design. (some day I’ll post those on the page but for now they are on Instagram) I really wasn’t happy with how the worms came out so the project got sidelined for a bit.
This first mold was designed in Solidworks as a single cavity test mold.
After printing the mold and injecting a few baits I wasn’t happy with the design… the ribbing was to small so the bait came out almost smooth plus the finish on the baits was horrible so I tried to paint the mold to get a smoother finish.
The bottom bait is the first injection and the top one is after painting the mold. I wasn’t happy with either one and the painted mold totally did away with any ribbing details.
Several month later (Sept 2020) I redid the design in Fusion 360 and made the ribs bigger.
This time I printed the mold vertical and the details cam out much better but overall I wasn’t happy with how thick the bait came out this time although it will work just fine I think.
Here is a comparison between the two molds… the top bait has better ribbing this time around but is much fatter.
Overall I only shot a few baits and was not happy with the outcome of any of them. I may revisit the stick bait in the future but for now it’s getting sidelined again.
