Bluntnose Minnow

STL’s for this lure are available for purchase from Cults3d.com

This is a Bluntnose Minnow swimbait I am currently working on. It is actual size so the finished bait is only about 2.75′ long.  It’s still in the testing phase so there are no fancy colors or painted jig heads yet but so far it’s working great.

This is an image I found on google which I based the design off of.

I originally designed this in Fusion 360 to be part of a hard bait…

I then changed it to a kicker tail design so it could be a soft bait.

For testing I just designed a small quick to print single cavity mold.

Here’s the printed mold I think it only took about 2-3 hours to print.

First injection compared to a test print I did awhile ago.

I also designed a 1/16 oz lead jig head to go with this lure.

This was also a small quick to print mold.

I didn’t have any high temp silicone left but this Alumilite Amazing Mold Rubberfrom Michaels worked fine.  (at least so far)

Here’s how the hook sits in the mold before pouring the lead so I should be able to use different sized hooks if I want.

First pours… not perfect but they will work.

Here they are ready for testing.

They worked… first fish.

Just to try something different I tried adding the triple tail from my last grub to the kicker tail on this.

It worked ok but did add kind of a weird action so the jury is still out on this modification.

I can also fish these with my 1/8 oz jig heads too. (These are a little beat up from catching the fish seen below.

Nice little Smallie.

Caught my first Pike on this new lure too.

Here a Video of some of the fish I caught testing these.

Here is the finalized mold version… I added some more detail to the fins and made it a 10 cavity mold.

The first injection didn’t come out perfect because I didn’t have enough plastic in the injector (it was just remelt) so the top 4 baits didn’t shoot fully but only the top two are not usable.

Ready to catch some fish…

Here are the finished lures in Flo Yellow with the powder painted 1/16oz Heads.
