The Body Spinner
This is just s silly lure I came up with for fun and to play around with some ideas. As you can see I put a spinner leaf in the middle of the body hoping I could get some flash as well as some noise (like a rattle trap) as the leaf bangs around the body as it flutters.
The basic design was done in Solidworks.
The internals.
The top profile showing the gigantic eyes just for fun.
The “Popeye” version. The eyes were made from casting a marble and then filling the mold with UV resin. I then did a super quick (and sloppy) paint job to the back of the eyes. They didn’t come out perfect but for this they are good enough.

The “Glitter” version. I wasn’t sure if the oversize eyes would affect the action of the lure so I made one with flatter eyes too. These eyes were made made by cutting up a kids holographic type sticker and just drawing the pupil on with a sharpie… again pretty sloppy but it works. A few different types of glitter were added to the clear coat before curing so between the glitter, eyes, and the leaf this lure should really shine in the water.
Top view showing the flatter eyes. I also moved the tie on more toward the top of the lure on this one as the “Popeye” version liked to swim right at the surface like a wake bait and I wanted to see if this one would run a little deeper.
This is just a real quick video of the first test. It swam alright and did make some noise although I don’t know if it’s the “right” kind of noise but well see if I can catch a fish on it anyway.
