Hard / Soft Swimbait

Hard / Soft Swimbait Combo
This is a combination Hard & Soft Swimbait lure that I am working on at the moment. This concept is nothing new but I wanted to try to combine the 3d printed hard baits with the 3d printed molds for soft baits that I have been making lately. I took the my latest soft swimbait that I have been working on and scaled it to about 5 inches and then split the design in half. This should add a diving ability (like a crack bait) to a swimbait.
The front half uses the same construction as most of the hard baits I make. It is printed in two halves with a worm hook sandwiched in between.
This is what it looks like when assembled. For now I am using a printed lip just for testing but once I finalize the design it will be made from clear acrylic.
This is one half of the mold that makes two of the bodies at once right now. I will probably change this to a single cavity so I can do dual color injections split down between the top and body of the body.
And here we have one of the printed bodies. I did this in pink so it would be easy to see in the water.
I have done a quick swim test on the finished prototype and it swam straight with a slow retrieve but did some crazy things at a faster crank. I was testing this in a swift moving river so I need to get it in some calm water before I can tell whats going on.
To be Continued…
