Lazy Ike’s

STL’s for this lure are available for purchase from Cults3d.com

These are a couple of replicas of some classic vintage Lazy Ike’s.  I can’t take credit for the idea on these… the Engineered Angler did a video on making these and I just used his tutorial to make a 3D printed version.

Here is the super simple design done in CAD.

Just finished printing. The print setting could have been better… definitely needed a few more top layers.

My standard lure construction.. two halves, pins, figure 8 tie hangers, and a few split shots for weight.

Rough sand before paint.

I made two of these as the first one looked a little to thick.

Ready for paint.

… and the finished lures.

Simple Shad pattern like like the Engineered Angler did…

… and a quick perch type pattern.  (The clear coat on this is pretty garbage but the fish won’t care.)

Initial tests where not the promising on these as they didn’t quite swim right, I’m going to play around with the weight a bit and see what happens.

7/1/23 – I finally got back around to this… the fix for this was pretty easy. I just ended up moving the front tie on forward a little.  In this picture the actual tie on is where it was and the cut out is where I moved it to.

I also did a wire form version for people who can’t get figure 8 tie on’s.  Keep in mind… I have not tested this version so I don’t know if the added weight of the wire will change anything.

Here is the new version with the tie on moved forward. These swim pretty well now and have a decent action and they dive about 2-3′.

These were super easy to make because there is no paint… they were printed in a Silk Dual Color PLA Filament and then just cleared with epoxy.

The pictures don’t really do it justice but they really shimmer in the water.  I’ve only tested them briefly so no bass yet but I did catch a decent Bluegill on them so they are proven. I have 3 other duel color filaments to try next also.

To Be Continued (at some point)

        1. Gracias … mi próximo paso es intentar redistribuir el peso más hacia adelante para ver si ayuda.

  1. Loved the simplicity of this design.
I would suggest tapering down the lure to allow it better body movement/wobble in the water – Almost like a teardrop shape when looking from above.
Over all very good and one of your best.

    1. Thanks for the tip… I do need to go back and try to fix this design this season.
