Lipless Bluegill

This is a lipless crank bait that I designed. It’s a 3″ rattle trap type designed in the shape of a Bluegill.

The rough initial drawing on paper.

Most of the design was done in the Fusion 360 Sculpt environment.

The first test print.

I’m still experimenting with weight placement… the first prototype received (8) .25″ bearings up front and (3) in the rear for rattle. (prototype #2 used 4F and 3R)

The first assembled lure after printing…

… and the first paint job.

None of these have hooks yet because they still have not been tested at this point.

Even though I haven’t tested them I scale another version down to 2.25″

I am also experimenting with weight placement in this version too.

The pin for the rear hanger was small so I drilled through the body and trimmed it off after assembly.

My few quick attempts at “Matching the Hatch” of some fish I caught this year. (this is a 3″ version)

I got a little sloppy with hand painting the blue on this 2.25″ one.

Besides the sloppy fin work this one came out okay I think.

All hooked up and ready to test. With all the weights this one was a bit over an ounce so I need to find the right combo still.

Here’s a crappy slowed down GIF that kind of shows the action.  (Best I could do for now in 30° temps without sticking my hands/camera in the water.)
