NED Rigs

This is just a 3″ NED rig design I’m playing around with. I’ve honestly never fished with something like this but it looked like a quick fun project to try so here we are…

I’m calling these the Knurly NED’s because they remind me of machine knurling (which is were I got the idea while I was making something else with knurling on it) although I’ve been told they look like stretched out grenades.

As with most of my designs I started with a quick single cavity test mold.

Here’s the first injection rigged up with on of my custom made NED jig heads with a small size 1 hook. (This one reminds me of the mini corns I get with Chinese food.)

Once I knew it was going to work I also made a 4 cavity version of the mold. I am probably going to redesign this so the baits are vertical though. This way if there are any air bubbles while injecting they will rise to the top of the bait by the gate rather than the side of the baits which happened a few times during testing.

I shot a few different colors for testing. (I am sending these to someone else to test though as I have too many projects going on right now.)

I also designed a 3″ Nubby NED version too.

This is what the test mold looks like.

First injection.  The bait is rougher because I printed the mold with a .25 layer height for fasted print speed purposes.

Here it is rigged with another custom Ned Head with a size 3 hook this time. I still might thicken the head of the bait up to match the NED jig head.

Again I did a variety of colors for testing.

To be continued…. once I hear back after they are tested.
