Pan Fish Soft Lure

Pan Fish Soft Lure
This is just a quick mold I design for making a simple small pan fish lure. I basically designed this around the hook because I bought a 100 pack of them for the minnow lure and need to use them on something.
The mold is pretty simple and was just a quick design… I think the whole thing took like a half hour at most. Not that it was needed but I added a big reservoir in front of the gate just to experiment with different design options.
The mold is a little rough because I printed it fast and with a .20 layer height… I really wasn’t to worried about detail here. You can also see how the hook is embedded into the lure here too. I designed the mold to take a hook with 1-3 split shots for weights.
The finished baits aren’t going to win any prizes for looks but should work. The single split shot version seen here makes for a nice slow sinking lure which is perfect for pan fishing.
I pulled various leg off a few and used a different amount of split shots to achieve different actions.
Even though I made this for pan fishing the first two fish I caught were Bass so that’s a bonus in my book.
I did catch so many Johnny Roaches on the first outting I lost count.
The little yellow perch were very fond of these on the retrieve too.
I did design this as a ten cavity mold too but haven’t printed it yet. I’m not sure how hard it would be to get all the hooks aligned before clamping the two halves together.
These did take quite a beating but the pan fish loved to bite the nubs off the tails. I might redesign the legs in the near future and flip them around so the have more action.
