3D Printed Rattle Trap
STL files for this design are available at Printables and can be found HERE.
This is my version of a common rattletrap type bait.
This is another quick one I designed in Solidworks. It works pretty well and has a decent rattle, not as good as a store bought one but good enough for me.
I filled this one with a lot of weight (22 BB’s in the front section and 8 in the rattle section.) so it should cast far.
I only did a quick rough sand on these and then they were ready for paint.
Airbrushed in a Perch pattern. (this pattern works well for me at my favorite lake.)
This one was sprayed with a chrome (silver really) spray paint and then just hand painted…. some glitter in the epoxy sealer really added some shine to it. (although it’s hard to photograph)

nice work, where do you buy your fishing supplies ?
I get a lot stuff from Amazon but things like hardware such as the Figure 8 Hook Hangers that I use now I buy from https://lurecomponents.worthco.com
Mine printed twice without filling in the entire lure, there are gaps and it’s weak. Like an incomplete skeleton. Any advice?
I’d have to see pic of what it looks like but it might be a printer settings issue.
i was wondering what size figure 8 hook hangers did you use you did not say what size in your blog or on thingiverse
The original design used some sinker eyelets I found on Amazon but they are no longer available. It wouldn’t be to hard to bend your own for the original design though. The latest version (which should be Rattle Trap Fig 8.stl) uses #6 Figure 8 Hook Hangers available from https://lurecomponents.worthco.com
