The Lure that bites back…. This is another lipless crankbait modeled after a Red Belly Piranha. I had a few of these as pets in my younger days so I though it only fitting to immortalize them in a fishing lure.

This lure started out as my Lipless Bluegill which was originally designed in Fusion 360…

… it was then imported into Forger on an Ipad and re-sculpted into a Piranha.

With my limited Knowledge of Forger I exported the finish sculpture into Tinkercad where I finished adding teeth and the recesses for the hook hangers and weights.

The back side shows the cut outs for weights and rattle.

After 3D printing the lure I found this picture (via The Piranha Guide) to use for reference for airbrushing.

I think the first prototype came out great and is probably one of my favorite lures I’ve done in a while.

The teeth are not as sharp as in real life but with the limits of FDM printing this was the best I could do to maintain a good combination of print quality and strength of the teeth.

A little glitter flake in the UV clear coat gives a realistic quality to the lure (it looks mush better in person than in pictures.)

The eyes are a little off balanced as far as the domes sizes but I don’t think the fish will care.

Here it is compared to the other two sizes of the Lipless Bluegills.
