STL files for this mold can be purchased from CULTS3d.com

This is a leach type bait called the Reaper.  These baits have been around since the 60’s I think. I use to hand pour these 25+ years ago from plaster molds and thought it would be the prefect bait to try doing a 3D printed hand pour mold with.

Here is the full design and build Video.

The finished bait came out great right out of the mold and the details are nice and crisp.

I haven’t played around to much with colors beside a few experiments but so far I am happy with the initial results.

I did try a few two color pours and they came out pretty well also.

The two color pour led me to try and make a second mold where I could pour the first color and then take that and insert it into the full mold to pour the second color.  This will make a pretty cool bait all by itself too.

This method worked out ok but it really didn’t laminate perfect.

Here you can see at the front were the two colors meet there is some de-lamination. I can easily fix this with a soldering iron but it’s best to just pour the two colors at the same time in a single mold.

After I had everything worked out I printed a five cavity mold to speed up production.

I also designed a master mold box for the 5 cavity version that you can make silicone molds from but I haven’t tested it yet.

  1. Are the files available for download? Would like to try. I always thought pla would melt under the high heat of the plastisol.

    1. I haven’t made them available yet I may put them up for sale for a few bucks in the near future though. As for the Plastisol the mold has been holding up pretty well so far… I’m not sure if that will change in the long run but so far so good.

        1. The files are now up on Cults3d.com (direct link is at the top of the page.)

  2. Are you interested in selling any of your molds ?I don’t have the means to purchase a 3D printer but have been looking for this type of mold please get back to me and how much ? Thank you

    1. It’s really not worth the printing time for me to sell actual molds but drop me an direct email and we’ll chat.
