3D Printed Ultralight Crankbait Lure
STL files for this trap can be found at HERE at Printables.
These ultralight crankbaits are my first go at designing and printing my first 3D printed lure.
My design is inspired by this other tiny crankbait designed by Thingiverse by user rallekralle11’s and it was the first 3d printed lure that I tried.
While it worked well and caught a bunch of fish I thought it looked a little too boxy so I set out to design my own.
My first design was done in Solidworks and then they are printed in two halves and glued together (I used superglue) and a single thin piece of wire is bent to form the loops and fits in between the halves running front to back for tie on and the hook mount. I few short pieces of 1.75mm filament are used as pins to align the two halve while joining.
After printing, assembly, airbrushing them with an old badger 150, and then a quick epoxy clear coat they were ready to fish. They are pretty small as seen here in comparison with a penny.
You tend to catch smaller fish with smaller lures but it’s still a hell of a lot of fun and perfect for Ultralight gear.
The pan fish love them and you can catch these things all day long on them.
The Yellow Perch tend too love these things too.
