Spice Rack Turn Table
This is a simple Lazy Susan turn table for all of the spices in my cabinet. It may not be the most exciting project on this page but your better half will probably love it if you made one so I’m posting just to share the idea.
This is one shelf of my spice cabinet and I got sick moving everything around looking for that certain spice while cooking so I set out to rectify that situation.
A few minutes is all it took to come up with a simple design for the turn table.
My cabinet is about 10″ wide but my printer bed is only 8″ wide so I had to split some of the parts up before printing.
I’m using all of that 10 inches that I can. (I did shrink the STL’s to 98% just to make sure they fit.)
Even the base at 8 inches was pushing things.
The edge ring while split was still able to printed all be at once.
Once the two top pieces where printed I use filament pins and holes to align them…
… then they were super glued together.
I used some 80 grit sand paper to clean up the bearing race. (Did I mention that this whole thing was a just a giant bearing?)
Then I glued on the edge ring. This will keep the spices from falling of as everything is spun.
Next I heat up a 6-32 heat set insert with a lighter (I was to lazy to break out the soldering iron) and press it into the base…
… and let it cold down and set into place.
The insert does stick out the bottom a bit but with the rubber feet I added to the base this won’t be a problem.
To make the bearing I am using plastic Air soft BB’s.
This is probably overkill but I have like 1800 of these left over from my Solar Tracker project.
Next the base is put in place and then flipped over…
… and everything is secured together with a 6-32 screw with some thread locker on it.
Here is the finished turn table… quick and easy.
Hopefully no more fumbling around for spices now.
